Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to a loving, spirited, creative, and thoughtful woman, Wilma "Minnie" Marshall, who entered into rest on July 29, 2023.

Born on January 31, 1945, in Houston, Texas, Wilma brought joy, warmth, and color into the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a beacon of light in our community, her spirit as vibrant and enduring as the oil paintings she created, her love as abundant and beautiful as the flowers she adored. Wilma spent a significant part of her life devoted to the students of Brinkley Public Schools, serving as a Teacher's Aide until her retirement.

Her impactful work was not confined to the classrooms; she was also a very active member of the Brinkley Missionary Baptist Church. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and reflected in her actions. Wilma leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories woven with love, laughter, and her special knack for making each family gathering a memorable one. Above all else, Wilma treasured her family; her love for them was her compass, always guiding her way.

She is survived by her daughters Ann Marie Anderson and Michelle (Shawn) Seymore, her granddaughters Erica (Wade) Griffin and Ally Anderson, grandson Colin Anderson, and great-grandson Conner and Jensen Griffin. Her siblings Bobby (Sylvia) Zavala, Angie (Tony) Medellin, Susana (John) Tavakolian, Irene Zavala, and Gloria (Dexter) Chavez also survive her. Wilma was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Homer Marshall, and her parents, Marcus and Santos Zavala, and siblings Gil, Ernest, Joe, David, Billy, Gilbert, Billy, Mary Helen, and Babe.

Wilma's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and faith. She will be missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her.
