Obituary

William Odis Holcomb began his life's journey on November 18, 1942, in Hunter, Arkansas. He was the second child born to the family of Odis and Helen Goodrich Holcomb. He was simply known as "Sonny" by all who knew and loved him.

Sonny's educational journey began in the Hunter public schools, where he completed his studies up to the sixth grade. He learned the value of hard work from an early age, and dedicated his entire career to farming. Through the years he became known as an expert on all things related to John Deere.

On December 24, 1970, Sonny exchanged vows with Laura Parrish at the courthouse in Augusta, Arkansas. Their journey together led them through various places, including Tupelo, MS., Cotton Plant and Monroe Arkansas, before settling in Clarendon.

Sonny's love for the outdoors was evident in his fondness for leisurely walks in his neighborhood and trips to Walmart. Fishing and tinkering with various projects were also among his cherished pastimes. Known for his love of family, along with life's simple pleasures, Sonny found contentment in the everyday joys that surrounded him.

A devoted member of the Word of Truth Church in Monroe, for many years, Sonny found solace and joy in the companionship of his church community. On June 25, 2024, Sonny passed away in Forrest City, Arkansas at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 45 years, Laura Holcomb, his son Neal Hendrix, daughters Victoria Zerinque and Crystal Hendrix, and grandchildren Sidney Landry and Stella Earls.

He is survived by  his brother, Larry Holcomb (Leota) of Searcy, one sister, Edith Heath,  daughters  Louise Oswalt (Pete) of Donaldsonville, LA, and Sandra Moon of Brinkley, AR. His legacy will live on through his 11 grandchildren: Steven Hendrix, Ashley Haynes, Katie Haynes, Leslie Hendrix, Whitney Hendrix, Lance Hendrix, Tanya Williams, Johnny Williams, Tommy Williams, Tracy Davis,  and his granddaughter Samantha Winfrey, whom he raised as his own, along with 13 great-grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
