Obituary

Virginia Ruth Chandler was born May 18th 1936 in Des Arc Arkansas to parents Guy W. and Anna May Stith. She came into this world premature, weighed only two pounds, and was not expected to survive more than a few days. She defied all odds and went on to live an astounding 85 years. She passed away on July 10, 2021 and made her exit out of this world the same way she came in. She was a fighter in every sense of the word. She only stood 5'2" but anyone who knew her understood she was a force to be reckoned with. As a young adult she spent years working in a meat market and could lift more weight than people twice her size. She was an extraordinarily hard worker but you wouldn't know it just by looking at her. She was a beautiful woman, and took great pride not only in her work, but in her appearance as well. She never left the house without her hair done, make up on, and nails polished; even on days she was headed out to tend to her farm animals she looked like a million bucks. In her final days she still got up, fixed her hair, put her make up on, and had her nails filed and polished to perfection. In Virginia's past time she enjoyed embroidery, gardening, and most of all fishing. She also enjoyed cooking and was famous for making fried pies. During her life she was also known to be a talented baker and ceramic artist. She made and decorated beautiful cakes and created hundreds of gorgeous ceramic pieces. She loved music and for a short time she worked as a DJ, and shared her love of music with the small town of Des Arc, Arkansas and surrounding areas. Virginia was passionate about her love for animals. She spent years caring for and taking in abandoned cats. She made sure there wasn't a cat in the area that went hungry. Sharing a good cup of coffee and conversation with family and friends was at the top of her list of things to do.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband Pete Chandler, parents Guy W. & Anna May Stith; her brothers Guy Jr., Bud, & Ben Stith; her sister Fay Opel; and her granddaughter Courtney Chandler.

She is survived by her children Roy Chandler & his wife Debbie Chandler, and Don Chandler & his wife Mikki Chandler; her grandchildren Denver Chandler, Tasha Aznaran, Eric Chandler, Calisa Thomas, Shelby Chandler, Sandy Berry, Kenny Norton, & Jason Norton; her great grandchildren Ashlynn, Baylor, & Beckham Aznaran, Derrick, Isabelle & Sofia Berry, Kaden, Jace, Chantz, Cole, & Rowan Chandler, Christian, Taylor, Kenny, Maylee, Triniti , Jesse, Dakota, Dallas & Tynleigh Norton, Ezra & Jake Thomas; and her great great grandson Hadrian Berry.
