Obituary

Vernon Grady Geurian, was born on July 26, 1937, to loving parents Henry and Ruth Geurian. The family made their home in Clarendon, Arkansas where Vernon received education through the Clarendon public schools.

On October 5, 1962, he married the love of his life, Wilma Baker, in a beautiful ceremony officiated by Justice of the Peace, Doyle Kee. They chose to remain in Clarendon to raise their family and were blessed through the years, with countless memories. Vernon's love of family was evident in everything he did, and he treasured the time spent with his loved ones above all else.

Vernon proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marines, enlisting on April 21, 1960. He served three years at Camp Pendleton, in California, as a Field Artillery Battery Man, with the 11th Marine Regiment, 4th Battalion, First Marine Division Reinforcement, FMF. He later transferred to the Reserves and on April 21, 1963 Vernon received his honorable discharge.

In his professional life, Vernon worked hard to provide for his family. He was a dedicated employee of the Van Heusen Shirt factory and a man of integrity in all aspects of his life. Vernon eventually retired from Van Heusen and enjoyed spending some of his leisure time watching sports. His life was one of love, service, dedication, and commitment to his family and country. He was also a man of faith, read his bible everyday and found comfort in his beliefs.

On April 27, 2024 Vernon passed away peacefully, at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Grady, and Ruth Hinton Geurian, as well as his brothers Robert, Wilburn, Roy, and Ronnie Geurian, and his sister Margie Johnson.

Survivors: His loving wife of 61 years, Wilma Baker Geurian, children, Debbie Meredith and Craig of Conway,  Melissa Paul and Rodney of El Paso, Joe Geurian and Melissa of Clarendon, sisters Melinda Plumlee and Larry of Clarendon, and Glenda Geurian of Oklahoma, four grandchildren Jennifer Duncan, Geri Brock, Daniel Morris and Samantha Grigsby, six great-grandchildren Isaiah Duncan, Lilliah Duncan, Josiah Duncan, Makaylah Duncan, Ryder Grigsby and Rylee Pratt.
