Brinkley

Obituary

Born to John and Lousie Campbell of Brinkley, Arkansas on April 20, 1934 in a small house on South New Orleans Street was a beautiful little girl with blue eyes and blonde hair, Virginia Sue Campbell. She was welcomed into the world by her big brother Jim.

Sue attended the First United Methodist Church her entire life and became a member at the age of 10. She was a member of the Pairs & Spares Sunday school class, a member of the United Methodist Women, a former Sunday school teacher, a member of the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee and served on the Memorial Committee at church. She was the longest living member of the congregation.

As a child Ms. Sue went to the Brinkley School District until she graduated in 1952. After graduation she continued her education at Henderson State in Arkadelphia and later transferred to Arkansas State

Teachers in Conway so she could be closer to her significant other, Dennis Satterfield. It wasn't too long after that, he asked her parents for her hand in marriage and they gladly said yes. They were married on July 12,1953 in the First United Methodist Church in Brinkley, Arkansas which started 67 years of lifetime adventures.

Ms. Sue worked at the Brinkley High School for 18 years. She was the first face you would see when you walked into the office and she always greeted you with a smile. She was a beacon of light that shined brightly in the school district. In 1996 after many years of working, she decided to retire and start her beloved job of keeping her great grandchildren. She spent many days rocking, cooking, playing restaurant, throwing the ball, attending ballgames and working in her yard. She welcomed and loved any child that was brought into her home. They were guaranteed to get a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, a coke to drink and then outside to swing. She had a special love for children that could not be denied. When Nana wasn't taking care of others, you could find her square dancing with her friends and traveling the country. One of their many travels included a trip to all of the state parks in Arkansas, a cruise to the Caribbean, a trip to the Grand Canyon and many locations along the east coast. She enjoyed volunteering her time with the local blood mobile and helping with the Love Tree, which were placed in the banks around town.

Nana, as so many called her, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Friday morning, May 14, 2021 at her home with her loved ones beside her. Ms. Sue was preceded in death by her parents; John and Louise Campbell, brother, Jim Campbell, and granddaughter, Brandy Hickman Webber.

She is survived by her spouse, Dennis Satterfield, children, Cindy Smith of Brinkley, Greg Satterfield of Fayetteville and Nan and Husband Greg Pitts of Maumelle; 4 grandchildren Alisha Hallum, Brandy Webber, Blake Hickman and wife Randi, and BlissHickman; 7 great grandchildren Chaley Patterson and husband Ethan, Marissa Webber, Cabel Hallum, Preston Hickman, Bristol Hickman, Barrett Carr, and Dragen Hickman; and 1 great great granddaughter Noah Kate Patterson.
