Obituary

Steven Glenn Griffin, 61, of Lexa, Arkansas passed away on Sunday,  February 9, 2025, at his home. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on Sunday, January 5, 1964, to John and Patricia Griffin.

Steve married Sharon Yeager when he was just 21 years old. With their union, they had 3 children, Candice Griffin, Amanda Holt and Jeremy Newsom. These children had their dad's unwavering support and love.

Steve had a deep passion for fishing, hunting, and mining for crystals, often embarking on numerous adventures with his grandsons to indulge in these activities. He frequently went on fishing and hunting trips with his son, Jeremy, strengthening their bond through shared experiences in the great outdoors.

He worked as a home builder for several years before transitioning to Service Cooperative Gin, where he dedicated over 20 years of his career. As the gin manager, his extensive knowledge and experience were instrumental in the construction and development of additional gins throughout the state.

As his nephews often remarked, he was a Master MacGyver in his own right. He possessed an unparalleled ability to repair a wide array of items and often had more things in need of fixing than anyone they knew. Renowned for always carrying an assortment of tools in his pockets, he passed this practical habit down to his son, Jeremy.

Steve was a member of Lexa Baptist Church for over five decades, finding solace and strength in his faith. He was preceded in death by his father, John Griffin; his brother, Johnny Griffin; his sister-in-law, Dana Griffin; and his great-niece, Heaven Grace Griffin.

He is survived by: His devoted mother, Patricia Griffin, spouse Sharon Yeager Griffin, daughters, Candice Griffin of Helena, Amanda Holt of Lexa, son Jeremy (Morgan) Newsom of West Helena, brother James Griffin of Lake City, sister Debra Smith of Jonesboro, seven cherished grandchildren, Jadyn Griffin, Conner Martinez, Collin Martinez, Kaleb Martinez, Hunter Holt, Jagger Holt, and Carson Newsom and a host of nieces and nephews.
