Steve Wayne Chastain Sr. of Marvell, Arkansas left for his heavenly home July 23, 2023 at 7am. He passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.

Steve was born November 22, 1954 to Bill Jim and Juanita Chastain in Holly Grove, Arkansas.

Steve was a farmer at heart. After retiring from Kale Farms, he still enjoyed riding around looking at crops and talking to his fellow farmers. He enjoyed visiting with the diners, who became like family, at their restaurant of 17 years, The Carousel.

His love for his children was well-known but nothing made him happier than talking about and spending time with his grandchildren whom he affectionately called: Baby Doll, Rattlesnake, Hunter Butter, Cupcake, Pork and Bean, Pumpkin, and Stinker.

Steve was an avid collector of all things John Deere and coins. He loved watching Westerns, especially Gunsmoke, while eating popcorn. He enjoyed working in his yard mowing, picking up limbs, or finding pecans. Steve also enjoyed spending time with his youngest baby, English Bulldog, Stormie Skye.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Connie Chastain, his three children; Jeannie Noel of Vilonia, Leslie (Kevin) Cook of DeWitt, and Steve (Kim) Chastain Jr. of Holly Grove. He has seven grandchildren; Whitney (Kikin) Noel-Reyes of Addison, Texas, Austin Sullivan and Kevin "Bean" Cook of DeWitt, Hunter Noel of Vilonia, and William, Lily, and Kendall Chastain of Holly Grove. He has two sisters; Sharon Gosa of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and Teresa Chastain of Cherokee Village. In addition, a host of loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Jim and Juanita Chastain, brother, Bobby Gene Chastain, and sister, Virginia June Chastain.

Visitation service will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Bob Neal & Sons Brickell Funeral Home in Marvell between the hours of 6pm and 8pm. A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Bob Neal & Sons Brickell Funeral Home in Marvell at 2pm. Brother Gary Steiner will be officiating.

Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a loving husband, hero to his children, and the best Papaw in the world.
