Stephen Douglas (Doug) Carroll of Clarendon, Arkansas, passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, in Little Rock. Doug was born in Clarendon on Nov. 2, 1943, to Albert Genson Carroll and Wilma Mae Carroll. He often shared fond memories of growing up playing in the fields and streets of Clarendon and in the White River.

A member of the Clarendon High School Class of 1961, Doug went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from Hendrix College in Conway and a Master's Degree in Chemistry from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He returned to Clarendon after college where he lived and worked 40+ years for the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station – Lon Mann Cotton Research Station – in Marianna, Arkansas.

Doug's hobbies included reading, photography, playing chess, computers, keeping up with the news, and everything science fiction. In his younger years, he was an avid bicycler and recreational sports player. Doug was very much a nature and animal lover, with a special fondness for his beloved dogs Louis and Buddy.

Doug was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and son, Geoffrey Genson Carroll.

Doug is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nonnie Dyer
