Obituary

Shirley Jean Long, 88, peacefully passed away on July 3, 2026, in Jefferson City, OK. She was born on October 26, 1937, in Cotton Plant, and the 2nd born to the late George C. and Claire D. (King) Parker.

Shirley was a woman of great strength and resilience, whose life was marked by the love she had for her family, and faith.

She attended elementary school in Forrest City and graduated from Brinkley High School in 1956. Shirley spent the majority of her career as a hairdresser, where she found joy in the friendships she cultivated over the years. Her love for fashion and jewelry was evident in her style, and her fondness for animals, especially dogs, cats, and peacocks, was well-known.

Shirley's creativity showed through her love for decorating, particularly during the holiday season. Her faith was a significant part of her life. A devoted member of the Baptist Church, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior at the young age of 15. She loved sharing her faith with her church family and emphasized the value of their inheritance in Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George C. and Claire D. (King) Parker, and sister, Nellie Tonelli.

Though she has departed from this world, Shirley's legacy lives on through her family and the countless lives she touched. Her memory will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
