Sharon Sue (Harrell) Powell was born in Morrilton, AR on December 10, 1965, daughter to Arthur George Clifton and Johnnie Sue (Chism) Harrell. Sharon passed away with her family surrounding her in Little Rock, AR on June 14, 2021 at the age of 55.
Sharon was a lifelong resident of Morrilton. She was of the Freewill Baptist faith and a member of the Smith Spring's Freewill Baptist Church in Morrilton. Sharon had a passion for educating children; teaching special education along with many other subjects for a total of 18 years in the East End and Little Rock School Districts. Sharon also was a member of the Little Rock Education Association. In her free time, Sharon enjoyed hunting, fishing, and most importantly spending time with her family. Sharon was referred to as "Momma Powell" to many children over the years. Nothing made her happier than being able share a meal and visit with those close to her heart. She will be missed greatly by all those who knew and loved her.
Sharon is preceded in death by her grandparents: Dudley and Linnea Harrell, John and Willie Chism; and step-granddaughter: Alexandra Vega.
Sharon is survived by her parents; husband of 31 years: Tom Powell; daughter: Rachel Powell of Morrilton; son: Tommy Powell II (Michaela) of Pottsville; step-daughters: Stephanie Vega of Watson Chapel, Jennifer Powell of White Hall; brother: Charles Harrell (Jennifer) of Morrilton; grandson: Augustus Powell of Pottsville; step-grandsons: Gavyn and Mason Vega of Watson Chapel; along with a host of many other family members and close friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bob Neal and Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Smith Springs Freewill Baptist Church in Morrilton with Bro. Johnny McCoy officiating. Honorary Pallbearers: Little Rock School District Special Education Department.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Arkansas Heart Hospital and Staff for their exceptional level of care and kindness given.
