Sandra Kaye Smith Tarter (64) formerly of Monroe, Arkansas passed away at Lady Lake, Florida on October 17, 2022. She was born in Stuttgart, Arkansas, to Allen and Margie (Skinner) Smith on May 1, 1958. She was one of five children to the family and became simply known as Sandi. She received education in the nearby community of Clarendon. With a desire to continue her studies, Sandi attended ASU in Beebe for 2 years and EACC for 1 year.
She worked for a time at the Stuttgart Hospital in the lab and later secured a position at Autumn Road Family Clinic located in Little Rock as Lab Supervisor. Sandi eventually stepped away from public work and has been retired for five years.
Sandi was the wife of the late Gordy Tarter. The couple made their home in Carlisle where Sandi was active in the community as President of The Woman's Club, and a member of the Altrusa Club. She was a big supporter of Animal Rescue, and enjoyed the sport of golfing and fishing. Sandi was also a big fan of Razorback Football.
Sandi was a Christian and during younger years attended times of worship at the Monroe Baptist Church. For three years she enjoyed fellowship at the New Covenant United Methodist Church in The Villages, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Margie Smith, husband, Gordy Tarter, and brothers, Harold "Sonny" Smith, and Raymond "Hoppy" Smith.
She is survived by her sisters Linda Conrad and Bill of Florida, and Sarah Hayes and Rick of Roe, Arkansas. Sandi was also survived by her nieces and nephews, whom she adored and were her life. She also leaves three stepchildren, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 P.M. at Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home in Clarendon with graveside following at 2:00 at White Church Cemetery in the Rich Community.
