Ruth Ann
Westbrook
March 25, 1952 — July 13, 2024
Marvell
It is with deep sorrow we announce the death of Ruth Westbrook, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Born on March 25, 1952, Ruth left us on July 13, 2024, leaving a void that cannot be filled.
Born to Charlie and Mamie Thomas Moon, Ruth grew up in an environment that nurtured her love for family. Although she was predeceased by her brothers Jessie, Don, and Johnny Moon and her sisters Cloda Hill, Myrtle Landrum, Tempie Smith, and Hazel Little, the values they instilled in her were evident throughout her life.
After graduating from Marvell High School, Ruth continued her education by attending cosmetology school where she obtained her license as a stylist. Ruth loved her work as a hair stylist. She also worked for some time at Good Luck Cotton Gin.
In 1971, she wed the love of her life, Richard Westbrook Sr., forging a bond that lasted over five decades. The happy couple made their home in the Cypert farm area, where they would remain.
The joys of their union were their children - son, Richard Westbrook Jr. (fiance, Ashley Boren) of Bellefonte; daughters, Linda Bundren (Shannon) of Harrison and Jamie Clemons (Mark) of Brinkley, who will continue to keep her spirit alive.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Karmen, Halee (Holden), Cana, Alysha, Trevor, Chris, Drayton and Jadein; one great-grandson, Waylon; and many other family members and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and sisters.
Ruth's vivacious personality and warm heart were not confined to her family alone. She was a lover of romance novels, each one providing her with an escape to a world of passion and love. Her adventurous spirit also found an outlet in the outdoors, with fishing and deer hunting being her favorite recreational activities. She also loved flowers of all types, especially peonies.
A member of Trenton Baptist Church for 53 years, Ruth had a strong and lasting faith that carried her through many tough times.
A funeral service in honor of Ruth's life will begin with a viewing on July 18, 2024, at 9:00 AM at Bob Neal & Sons Brickell Funeral Home. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location at 10:00 aM. Ruth's final resting place will be at Shady Grove Cemetery in Clarendon.
Ruth's departure saddens us, but the memories she left us will forever be a source of comfort and strength. She embodied the essence of love, togetherness, and resilience. Her life story will be a beacon of hope and faith for generations to come. Rest in peace, dear Ruth.
