Ricky Dale Weatherford was born on August 12, 1955, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to Charles and Joyce Weatherford. The family made their home in Moro where Ricky received early education. He attended high school in the nearby community of Brinkley.  Before graduating with the Class of 1975, Ricky enjoyed playing guard for the Brinkley Tigers. He proudly wore #73 and was known by his classmates as Bulldog.

While in his teens, a lovely young lady by the name of Mary Chastain captured Ricky's heart. After a time of courtship, they made the choice of a lifelong commitment and married on June 11, 1977.  They moved for a time to Liberty Texas, but in the 90's, returned to Hunter where they raised their two sons, Ricky Daniel and Bradley Justin.  Ricky was self-employed and worked outside the home as a carpenter.

Like most young men raised in the southern delta, Ricky enjoyed the sport of  hunting and fishing.  In his early years he preferred hunting quail but hunting deer was something that also provided many meals for his growing family . However, no matter what the season Ricky was always ready to hunt. When it came to fishing, Maddox Bay was one of his favorite places to be. He took great pride in sharing his skills with his sons and with a love of baseball and football always enjoyed attending their games. Through the years, Rick and Mary would welcome five grandchildren and five great grandchildren to the family.

After  40 years of treasured memories, sadly Mary passed away on January 2, 2017.  Rick remained steadfast in caring for the family home and welcomed every opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren. He was known by everyone for his kind and caring nature and always willing to go the extra mile for family and friends.

Ricky was raised in the Christian faith and during his childhood attended times of worship at the Hunter Baptist Church. On August 18, 2024 just six days after his 69th birthday, Ricky passed away at his home in Hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Joyce Weatherford, and his wife Mary Chastain Weatherford.

He is survived by  his sons, Ricky Weatherford (Brittany) of Hunter, Bradley Weatherford of Lonoke, brothers, Rocky Weatherford (Marsha) of Trinidad, Texas, Craig Woodard (Jodi) of Iowa, sister's Tami Belcher (David) of Brinkley, Shanell Weatherford (Bill) of Truman, five grandchildren, Brooklyn, Allison, Kaitlyn, Bubba and Brantley, five great grandchildren, Easton, Keaton, Claire, Graeson and Leighton.
