Perry Lee
Saffell
May 31, 1959 — January 1, 2024
Clarendon
Perry Lee Saffell of Clarendon passed away on January 1, 2024, at the age of 64. He was born on May 31, 1959, to Ira and Mary Saffell. The family lived in Hopper Canyon, California when they welcomed the birth of their third of thirteen children into the home. In time life's journey would bring Perry to Arkansas where he became a 1977 graduate of Clarendon High School.
Perry began his working career as a handy man. He later secured a position with the Lennox Company in Stuttgart where he remained until stepping away from public work due to an injury. Proud to do his part in service to his country Perry also served a tour of duty with the United States Navy.
Perry's greatest joys in life came from being the father of two sons, James and Kenneth. In time he was given the added blessing of three grandchildren, Emilee, Michael, and Cade.
Like most young men growing up in the Southern delta, Perry loved taking advantage of all that nature had to offer. He enjoyed spending time fishing on the White river or could walk the woods with the best of them during hunting season. He especially enjoyed hunting during deer and squirrel season. However, since 1986 on any given day, his favorite thing to do was ride the levee with his best friend and room mate for many years, Jamie Bowen.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents; Ira Nelson and Mary Lois (Boyster) Saffell, brothers, Ira Saffell, Keith Saffell; sisters, Linda Hickman, Amy Boyd, Sue Jenson and Cathy Ponder.
He is survived by sons; James Saffell (Ashley) of Clarendon, Kenneth Saffell of White Hall, brothers; Carl Saffell (Joanna) of Clarendon, Tommy Saffell (Tammy) of DeValls Bluff, Joe Saffell (Lisa) of Fargo, sisters, Flora Boughton (Chris) of Brinkley, Debra Griffith (Bruce) of Stuttgart, and Sandra of White Hall, three grandchildren, Emilee Eira Sexton, Michael Wade Saffell and Cade Parker Saffell.
