Peggy L
Davis
October 20, 1938 — September 16, 2024
Cotton Plant
Peggy L. Davis began her life's journey in Marvell, Arkansas, on October 20, 1938. She was the firstborn child of Roy and Beulah Carey Young. The family relocated to the Brinkley area where Peggy attended high school and graduated with the Class of 1956.
Peggy became the bride of Charles Lester Davis on December 24, 1959. The sweet and tender ceremony was held at the Brinkley Missionary Baptist Church where Peggy attended. They chose to make their home and raise a family in Des Arc, while they continued to farm in Cotton Plant until Charles retired. They soon became well known among the farming community and were blessed with four children. In 1966 they celebrated being chosen as Woodruff County's Farm Family of the year. Peggy and Charles would share 56 years of wonderful memories before his passing in 2016.
Peggy was a stay at home mother who cared for her family until her children were almost out of school. Finding herself with a lot of spare time, Peggy began working in customer service. As an employee of Bancorp South, she greeted customers daily with a smile and eagerness to help. A dedicated and valued employee, Peggy remained with the company for 15 years before choosing to step away from public work to care for Charles. She had many different hobbies and interests, such as ceramics that she enjoyed sharing her completed projects with family and friends. She also enjoyed caring for her vegetable garden that she shared with her friends and neighbors. Peggy also loved spending time working in her flower garden and was skilled at crocheting, completing many Afghans and house shoes.
Through the years Peggy has continued her walk of faith as a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cotton Plant. She found great joy in sharing the value of her inheritance in Christ with others and the fellowship with her church family. On September 16, 2024, at the age of 85, Peggy passed away at the Unity Medical Health Center in Searcy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Beulah Young, husband, Charles Davis and daughters Sherry Davis and Connie Roth, three siblings Roy Young Jr., Jack Young, and Judy Everett.
Peggy is survived by her son Rob Davis of Cotton Plant, daughter Carol Spears (Greg) of Searcy, brother, Jerry Young (Elizabeth) of Missouri, brother in law, Billy Davis (Anita) of Bald Knob, son in law Brent Roth of Missouri, five grandchildren, Greyson Spears (Ashleigh) of Searcy, Mallory Spears, of Searcy, Kallee Roth, Lilly Roth, and Zack Roth of Missouri, and one great grandchild, Blakely Spears of Searcy.
