Ozella Coleman Chastain, age 87, of Holly Grove, died Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro surrounded by family.
Ozella was born August 15, 1936 in Blackton, AR to Lawrence and Cassie Coleman. Ozella was a homemaker and a longtime member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Ragtown.
Besides her parents, Ozella was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Stanley Chastain; infant brother Clarence Albert Coleman, brothers: Joe Coleman, Dickie Coleman, and Larry (Marilyn) Coleman; sisters Bobbie (Neil) Harrod and Norma Ann Orlansky; brother-in-law Billy Dunavan, and niece Laura Coleman Kulp.
Ozella is survived by two sons, Stanley Karel (Terri) Chastain and Calvin (Donna) Chastain of Holly Grove; two daughters, Angela Sain (Greg Heslep) of Hot Springs, and Iris (Steve) Beck of Brookland; grandchildren: Cal Chastain (Christa) of Jonesboro; Brian (Beth) Chastain of Lexa; Robin Chastain of Starkville, MS; Adam (Megan) Chastain of Holly Grove; Cortney Browning of North Little Rock; and Kathryn Tilley of Walnut Ridge. Great-grandchildren Addison, Kareline, and Brooks Chastain, of Lexa, Olivia, James Weston, Huck, and Margaret Chastain of Ragtown, Cayne Chastain and McKenzie Heslep of Jonesboro, Kyndal Browning of North Little Rock, Cody, Jaime, Marnie Tilley and Leland Cordero of Walnut Ridge.
She is also survived by brother Donald Gene (Cathy) Coleman of Gaithersburg MD and surviving sisters Arlene Coleman and Brenda Dunavan of Holly Grove, Lynn Dell (Mark) Gray of Little Rock, and Rhonda Vaughn of Ozark. Surviving sisters-in-law Natalie Coleman of Annandale, VA and Ginny Coleman of El Paso, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 11:00 am at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Ragtown with Dr. David Harris and Bro. Matt Hill officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Franks Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ozella's nephews and niece.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Franks Cemetery Fund, c/o First National Bank of Eastern Arkansas, P.O. Box 299, Holly Grove, AR 72069.
Special thanks to the staff at Bungalows Assisted Living in Jonesboro for the loving care she received the past year. In particular, the special bond she had with Destanie Leflore, Monique Williams, and Kay Bircher.
