Life Legacy of Myra (Collier) Jones
Myra (Collier) Jones passed away peacefully on Monday, May 09, 2022. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, Godmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend.
Myra was born on July 7, 1955 to Sam Eslie Collier and Earlene (Cobbins) Collier in Marvell, Arkansas. Myra dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Olive M.B. Church. She later fellowshipped at Mt. Zion M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. Rickie Hulbert until her health started to decline.
After graduating from Marvell High School, Myra attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) and received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Myra taught elementary school at the Marvell-Elaine School District for thirty two years before retiring in 2010. She was a devoted educator, ensuring that all her students had a firm grasp on her favorite subject, mathematics.
In April 1984, Myra married her longtime friend Edgar (Marvin) Jones. He is her loving husband of 38 years. Myra enjoyed traveling, shopping, word find puzzles, cooking, and spending quality time with her family and friends. You could find her any day with her nose in one of her many puzzle books or preparing a grand country dinner for her family. Holiday dinners won't be the same without her special touch.
Myra is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Larry Wheeler; and sister, Shirley Jean Collier.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her loving husband, Edgar (Marvin) Jones of Helena, Arkansas; son, Marvin Jones (Shunta) of Helena, Arkansas; daughter, Marissa Jones of Little Rock, Arkansas; one sister, Sherlene Collier of Florissant, Missouri; three brothers, Warren Collier (Lavern) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Lee Collier of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Johnny Wheeler (Sharon) of Bowling Green, Kentucky; Goddaughter, Roquel Williams; bonus daughter, Kiana Haynes; two grandchildren J'Bahri Jones and Jaydyn Stanton; four bonus grandchildren, Anthonesha Haynes, J'Quan Haynes, J'Wuan Haynes, and Brandon McBride Jr.; niece she considered her own, Misty (Collier) Farr; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and family.
