Larry Michael Steeland was born in Alton, Illinois on January 6, 1960, and the first of three children born to the family of Larry Jack Steeland and Hester Mae Carnew. Although he was born in Alton, his family eventually moved to Houston, Texas where they made their home. In the middle of his Sr. year he moved to Clarendon, Arkansas, where he graduated high school in 1978.
Mike's entrepreneurial spirit and deep expertise as a marine and locomotive specialist led him to become President of Power Systems International, a successful business he proudly owned and operated for over thirty-three years. Based in Clarendon, the company specializes in buying and selling locomotive diesel engines and parts.
Mike's zest for life reflected in his diverse hobbies and interests. He had a passion for traveling, Nascar, going to concerts, and coin collecting. True to his southern roots, he also found joy in the simple pleasures of fishing and duck hunting.
Mike loved his work and cherished the time spent with his family, above all else. He was known for his dedication and the joy he brought to those around him. His hardworking nature was evident in every endeavor he undertook and his love for his family was unwavering.
Mike passed away peacefully at his home in Clarendon, Arkansas on June 21, 2025 at the age of 65. He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Jack Steeland and Hester Mae Carnew; grandparents, Lula and Jack Steeland, Leona and Morris Dillard and his beloved dog, Parkee.
He is survived by his daughters, Valaree Christodoulidis of Grants Pass, Oregon and Sidnee Steeland of Fayetteville, Arkansas. His memory will also be cherished by his sisters, Jackie Steeland of Roe, Arkansas and Nichole Landers of Orange, Texas; Debbie Davis, his partner; as well as his two grandchildren, Celeste Christodoulidis and Acacia Swiger; nephews, Willie, Sean, Jaykob, and Kahn; nieces, Rhiannon, Meagen and a host of extended family and friends.
