The earthly journey for Michael Lynn Simons began on December 13, 1965 at the hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. The only child of Sherman and Barbara Simons, he was privileged to spend childhood years in a small rural community of Monroe County. He received early education at Holly Grove Elementary and later became a 1984 graduate of Clarendon High School. Michael worked for many years with the family business Simons Builders in the construction and remodeling of homes.

From 1986-1991, Michael continued educational studies at UALR in Little Rock. He received both Bachelor of Science and Arts in Psychology and History, going on to graduate with a Masters in Religion Education. He also attended the Theological Seminary from 1994-1997. With a sincere desire to work with young people, he served eighteen years as a teacher at the Godley High School in Texas.  During that tenure he provided assistance with the in-school suspension department. He was a 20-year member of the Field Street Baptist Church in Cleburne, Texas.

Michael was blessed to enjoy family life as the husband of Shauna, the father of Tiffany and a very special grandpa to Brianna.  In the community he was a member of the Terry Texas Rangers and Sons of the Confederate Veteran 1937, where he served as a chaplain. He thoroughly enjoyed teaching children the history of the Civil War. In fact, he greatly enjoyed anything related to history. Other things that interested Michael included traveling, collecting knives and books and listening to his favorite music.

Sadly, just ten days after his 55th birthday, Michael passed away at his home in Cleburne. On December 23, 2020, he passed from this life and entered his eternal home in Heaven. May it bring comfort to family and friends to know that Michael celebrated with our Saviour, Jesus Christ, the true Gift of Christmas.

Survivors include his wife Shauna Smallwood Simons; parents, Sherman (Joe) Caspar Simons and Barbara Elaine Richardson Simons; daughter, Tiffany Simons; grandchild, Brianna Todd; step sons, Josh and Margaret Rogers, Dustin Davenport and his Grandma Richardson.
