Maxine Newby passed away on Monday, January 2, 2022 at the age of 97. She was born on October 1, 1924 to the family of Rossen and Myrtle Fortenberry, in Brinkley, Arkansas. As their second born, Maxine shared in the many memories of childhood along with four siblings and graduated in 1942 from Holly Grove high school.

Maxine married Henry Newby of Holly Grove and in time welcomed the birth of three sons into the home. She took great pride in her role as wife, homemaker, mother and was very involved in the family's business of farming.

During leisure time she enjoyed oil painting, golfing, arts and crafts and was very skilled as a seamstress.

Maxine knew the importance of a relationship with her Saviour Jesus Christ and for many years has been a faithful member of the Holly Grove Presbyterian Church. From 2006 - 2008 she served as an Elder and assisted the Pastor with communications with church members.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; husband Henry Newby Sr.; sons, Donald Wayne "Buddy" Newby, Frankie Newby, brother; Franklin Fortenberry, sisters, Frances Johson, and Lorraine Malt.

She is survived by son, Henry Newby Jr. and wife Annette, of Stuttgart; three grandchildren, Mallory Hardwick and husband Ethan, Amanda Grabert and husband Bryan, and Westen Newby; three great grandchildren, Noah Hardwick, Jackson Grabert, and Sydney Grabert; and one sister, Jean Junior and husband Jerry of Brinkley.
