Mathew Charles Johnson was born on August 14, 1977 in Nederland, Texas, a son to Dewey Glen Johnson and Karen Vowell Johnson. Mathew passed away on April 29, 2021 in Elbert County, Colorado at the age of 43.
Mathew was of the Methodist Faith and was very active in the Adona Methodist Church, serving as a member and a board member.Mathew and wife Kimberly own and operate Mustang Sally's Restaurant in Perryville, AR. Mathew was also self-employed as a truck driver and traveled all over the country. He was very skilled with his hands doing electrical and mechanical work, along with playing the guitar. He had a passion for adventure, enjoying the great outdoors kayaking when he got the chance. Most of all Mathew or "Skipper", as referred to by his grandchildren, focused greatly on his family; they were his number one priority. Mathew, along with his wonderful stories, will be missed significantly by his family and the people who knew him.
Mathew is preceded in death by: his father: Glen Johnson; and brother: Jacob Johnson.
Mathew is survived by his wife: Kimberly Johnson of Adona, AR; mother: Karen Vowell of Alma, AR; sons:Mathew Johnson II of Shawnee, OK, Steven Gunter and fiancé Cassidy of Fort Smith, AR, Morgan Johnson and wife Hope of Clarksville, TN, Noah Johnson of Stratford, OK, Tyler Gunter and fiancé Abby of Sherwood, AR; daughters; Katelyn Gunter of Sherwood, AR, Grace Johnson of Charleston, AR, Bella Johnson of Charleston, AR; brother: Nathaniel Johnson and wife Amy of Fort Irwin, CA; sister: Kacey Chronister and husband Joseph of Bentonville, AR; grandchildren: Sunny Ray, Isaiah, Hadleigh; in-laws: Brian and Linda Hester of Bryant, AR, Steve and Barbara Yates of Little Rock, AR; along with a host of other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held of Friday, May 7, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bob Neal and Sons Chapel in Morrilton, AR. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cypress Creek Park in Adona, AR. Internment will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Adona, AR.
