Mary Ann Winkle, age 77, of Romance, Arkansas, was called home by the Lord on August 26, 2025. She was born on December 26, 1947, in Clarendon, Arkansas, and the only child of Earl and Jessie Umholtz. Mary Ann graduated from Clarendon High School in 1966 and married Paul Winkle on January 18, 1967. Through the years she took great pride in her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother and some of her greatest joys came from seeing her family grow and thrive.
Mary Ann worked outside the home as a Department Manager with Walmart. She loved cooking, and found peace in simple things such as tending to her flower garden. Mary Ann also had a fondness for puppies and was known for her remarkable marksmanship. She was active in her community, serving as the President of the Family Support Group with the National Guard.
Mary Ann's faith was the foundation of her life. As a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, she found comfort and joy in her church family and was passionate about sharing the value of their inheritance in Christ.
Her legacy is one of love, family, and faith. She touched the lives of all who knew her and will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her dedication to her family, and her unwavering faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Jessie Mavity Umholtz.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Paul Winkle, their two sons Paul Winkle Jr. and wife Nichole of Romance, Arkansas, and Allen Winkle and wife Kimberly of Cabot, Arkansas. She is also survived by twelve cherished grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply.
There will be a graveside service to honor Mary Ann's memory on Friday, August 29 beginning at 2:00 P.M. in Franks Cemetery located in Holly Grove.
