Obituary

Marshall W. Ramey Jr. of Brinkley passed away on September 30, 2022, at the age of 94.  He was born in Brinkley on February 11, 1928, to the family of Marshall and Christine Ramey Sr. As the first born, Marshall shared in childhood memories along with four younger siblings.

On March 28, 1946, he enlisted in the United States Army/Air Force and reported for active duty in Little Rock. Skilled in the trade of radio repair,  Marshall was stationed in Japan during WWII, and served with  the 1956 th Air and Airways Communications. He installed, maintained, and performed maintenance on standard and special equipment used by Army Airways. Marshall reached the rank of Staff Sergeant and upon returning stateside received an honorable discharge at Camp Stoneman, California in 1949.

He was blessed in life to become a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In 1950, Marshall married the love of his life, Mary Lee Warren and through the years, shared in the joys of raising five sons. He worked outside the home as a Supervisor for the Mohawk Rubber Company located in West Helena. He was a master craftsman, enjoyed woodworking, and the sport of  squirrel hunting. Marshall especially loved fishing, talking about fishing and of course, eating fish.

Knowing the importance of a relationship with his Saviour, Jesus Christ, Marshall attended times of worship at the Methodist Church. He was active in his local community as a member of the Lions Club.

Marshall will be  laid to rest at the Salem Cemetery in Moro, Arkansas, on Friday October 7, 2022, with Military Honors.  He was preceded in death by parents, Marshall, and Christine Ramey Sr., and one brother, Bruce Ray Sr. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Ramey, of West Helena; sons, Marshall F. Ramey (Lisa) of West Helena, Gerald S. Ramey (Tammy) of Batesville, Jack W. Ramey (Aillen) of Monroe, LA., Frank W. Ramey (Dawn) of Canton, GA., Walter L. Ramey (Raye) of Brinkley; siblings, Billy Bunker of West Helena, Bobby Bunker of Virginia Beach, VA., Patsy Baker (Wayne) of Forrest City, 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
