Obituary

Louise Pasley Coursey Henard passed away on January 30, 2021, at Springhill Baptist Hospital in North Little Rock due to complications from Covid-19. She was born on May 19, 1941, in Augusta, Arkansas, to the late Floyd and Ethel Pasley. She was the second-born child of five children in the family. Much of the time as a child was spent between Cotton Plant and Sheridan. She shared her childhood as being a happy one even though there were economic hardships at times. She fondly remembered riding bicycles all day on the farm and playing with all the cousins.  She was a graduate from Cotton Plant High School.

She met the love of her life in 1957 in Cotton Plant. As Jackie recalls he was not Louise's "number one pick" at the time, and he had to work hard to win her over as his wife. Jackie and Louise were married on December 6, 1959, in Cotton Plant, Arkansas, and made it their home for 61 years. Added to this union were two children, Todd and Karen, and their immediate family unit was complete. However, the family continued to grow with the births of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren who each had a special name for Louise, Memaw and Eze.

Making her house a home came easy to Louise.  She loved cooking her favorites, fried chicken, cheese dip, and macaroni and cheese, for family and friends where all were welcome in her kitchen.  It was the hub of the family gatherings and the center of family birthdays and holidays.  It was also the heart of one-on-one chats with anyone who needed a listening ear.

Louise was the one who planned the extended family reunions and celebrations.  She expected each person to be in attendance or have a good reason to miss. Her children and grandchildren did not want to get on "her list."

When Louise wasn't in the kitchen, she was outdoors weeding flowers, maintaining their pool, or relaxing by the pool.  She loved the myriad of colors from her flowers that attracted numerous hummingbirds each year.  She was obsessed with mowing her yard herself as the background to show off her favorite flowers.

Friends and family of Jackie and Louise know that they are the true example of love! Whenever you saw one of them, you saw the other one… and they both were completely happy that way. Her family will miss Louise but will continue to treasure their time with her and the fond memories they all made with her.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ethel Pasley, and one sister, Myrtle Wilkerson. She is survived by her husband, Jackie, one son, Todd (Paula) Henard of Brinkley and one daughter, Karen (Aaron) Gifford, of Wheatley.  She is also survived by two brothers, Larry (Clara) Pasley of Alexandria, LA, and Tony Pasley of Des Arc, and one sister, Janice (Fred) Tucker of Cotton Plant.

She was dearly loved by her four grandchildren:  DeAnn Henard, Ashley Younts (Casey), Brittany Ligon (Grant) and Jordan Wilkison (Jarrod), and she dearly loved them. Her great-grandchildren, Dagan Jones, Jack and Wyatt Younts, and Brooklyn Skelton will always remember playing with Louise in their toy room or playing by her side while Louise was watching them from her swing. She also loved and is survived by her many special nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Cotton Plant Memorial Cemetery, 185 South 3 rd Street, Cotton Plant, AR, 72036.
