Louis Phillip
Aycock
August 7, 1941 — November 3, 2024
Poplar Grove
Louis Phillip Aycock, 83, of Poplar Grove, Arkansas, passed away on November 3, 2024. Born on August 7, 1941, Louis served his country with distinction in the Marine Corps from 1963 to 1967, obtaining the rank of Sargeant. He fought in Vietnam and achieved recognition with several medals including the Purple Heart medal and a Good Conduct medal. He continued his service in the Army National Guard until 1976.
After his military service, Louis dedicated himself to farming, carpentry and raising a family, skills that he mastered and were well respected for in his community. He was a lifelong member of Marvell United Methodist Church, where he participated actively in community services.
Louis was a passionate outdoorsman, an avid supporter of the NRA, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Marvell. He selflessly donated to the Wounded Warriors Foundation. His hobbies included deer and squirrel hunting, fishing for catfish, bream, and crappie, and tending to his vegetable garden. Above all, Louis cherished the time spent spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he had a special bond with his dog, Camo.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Earline Gschwend Aycock; his son, Phillip Aycock; his parents, Felix Gosa and Ella Duncan Gosa; and his brother, Tommy Aycock. Louis is survived by his daughter, Katherine Ashcraft of Poplar Grove; five grandchildren, Nicole Williams (Joey), Nick Ashcraft, Michael Aycock (Faith), Jaycee Southward, Phillip "Dude" Holmes; and twelve great-grandchildren, Shiloh, Sydney, Kaydence, Kory, Georgia "Bug", Briar, Riley, Braxton, Kole, Kalani, Denver, and Lucas. Louis was a "Papaw" to many others throughout the years. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Katie Gschwend; special cousin, Roy Finley; special nephew, Brian Aycock; his dog, Camo; and numerous other family members and friends.
Louis was a pillar in his community, a devoted family man, and a proud veteran. His legacy of love, dedication, and service will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
