Lois Virginia Howton Jones of Brinkley passed away on Sunday June 20, 2021 at the age of 81. She was born in Brinkley, to the family of Arch and Pauline Howton on December 7, 1939. Lois received formal education through the public schools, becoming a 1957 graduate of Brinkley High School.

She was blessed in life to become a wife, homemaker and mother to three children. Lois was given the added joys of seeing her children begin families of their own with the addition of spouses, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

In 1971 Lois married Lovic Jones. They lived in Star City, Arkansas, Farmerville, LA., and Carlisle, Arkansas before becoming part of the Brinkley community where they remained.

As a member, Lois attended times of worship at the First Assembly of God Church in Brinkley.  She became simply known as "Sarge" and was in charge of the women's groups, took care of anything having to do with planning meals and coordinating fund raisers.

She enjoyed times spent with her grandchildren, cooking, gardening and fishing.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Arch and Pauline (Bolden) Howton; husband, Lovick Jones; brothers, Billy Howton, Charles "Bo" Howton, sisters, Helen McDonald, Velma Smith, and half sisters, Lorene Tweedle and Odene Crabtree.

Survivors include; sons, Dennis Boyd and wife Hanna, of Dallas, Georgia, Ricky Boyd and wife Christa, of Madison Mississippi, and daughter, Kim Starling and husband Vernon, of Hoover, Alabama; brother Jerry Howton of Palestine, Arkansas; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren. and 4 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the Brinkley First Assembly of God Church in Brinkley with services following at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.
