Obituary

Linda Carol Penn of Brinkley, Arkansas, died Thursday, December 30 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Stuttgart at the age of 73.

Linda was born on July 5, 1948 to Earl C. and Lula Mae (Campbell) Penn and was raised in the Keevil community before calling Brinkley her home during most of her adult life. After graduating from Clarendon High School in 1966 and attending classes at Crowley's Ridge College, she worked for many years at Simmons Eye Clinic, Dr. Ralph Wilson's office, and the Bank of Brinkley. Linda had been a member of the Church of Christ in Clarendon and was of the Christian faith.

Linda's pets were a very important part of her life, and after her retirement she remained actively involved in supporting the work of Underdog Rescue of Arkansas, an organization dedicated to assisting stray animals in eastern Arkansas.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Ruth Kelly, Joyce Taylor, LaVerne "Bess" Brewer, and Bertha Jones; and one brother, E.J. Penn. Survivors include her sister, Virginia Simpson of Crestpark Nursing Home in Stuttgart; special cousins Thomas (Buddy) and Pat Cooper of Brinkley; her close friend, Jeremiah, of Brinkley; her beloved cat, Shorty; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her greatly.

Private burial arranged by Bob Neal and Sons will be held at Shady Grove Cemetery in Clarendon, Arkansas; a family memorial gathering will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring and remembering Linda with a monetary donation to Underdog Rescue of Arkansas, 338 Mill Road, Cotton Plant, Arkansas, 72036
