Linda Sue
Kersey
January 31, 1947 — April 20, 2025
Clarendon
Linda Sue Kersey passed away on April 20, 2025, at the age of 78. She was born in Holly Grove, Arkansas and one of six children to Ernest L. and Fannie Lee Johnson McCurley. Linda attended the local public schools and graduated in 1964.
Linda became the loving wife of Marvin "Sonny" Kersey. They chose to make their home in Clarendon where they shared the joys of raising children. Through the years they would be blessed to experience the love and laughter that grandchildren brought into their life. Sadly, Linda and her family experienced the loss of Sonny in 2018.
In her professional life, Linda worked at the local shoe factory in Clarendon for many years. She was a dedicated employee and took pride in her work. In addition to her career, Linda was a woman of faith and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Clarendon. Her spirituality was a guiding force in her life, and she found solace in her beliefs.
Outside of family, work and her church community, Linda enjoyed hobbies such as gardening and cross-stitching. She found peace tending to her garden and creating beautiful cross-stitch pieces in her spare time.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Fannie McCurley, husband Marvin "Sonny" Kersey, daughter Sheila Kersey, and siblings Doyle McCurley, Billy McCurley, Norma Jean Creekmore, and Georgia Ann Bartlett.
She is survived by her daughter Melinda Kay Settle and husband Richie, grandchildren Amanda Wells (Steve), Jeremy Young (Hilary), Jonathan Young (Brittney), great-grandchildren, Wesley, Hunter, Kathryn, Parker and Bryan Young, Harmony, Melody, and Aria Miller, Brianna and Josh Wells, brother Bobby McCurley and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in her honor on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at McCurley Cemetery, where friends and family will gather to remember Linda's legacy of love, faith, and dedication to her family.
