Leslie Wayne
Conder
September 1, 1947 — April 26, 2026
Leslie Wayne Conder, aged 78, bid this world farewell on April 26, 2026 . Born to Reuben L and
Marjorie E. (Turnage) Conder on September 1, 1947, in Searcy, Arkansas, Leslie was a man of integrity and resilience, who touched
countless lives with his warmth, wisdom, and unconditional love. In time he became known as "Cowboy" to all who knew and loved
him.
Leslie, an alumnus of Des Arc High School, continued his academic journey at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, and Pittsburg
State University in Pittsburg, Kansas, where he earned his degree in Political Science. His professional path led him to the field of
Construction Management, where he served many leading Engineering/Construction firms such as Fluor Daniel, Bretchel, and Black
& Vetech Corp, before he eventually retired.
Leslie joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 19, serving his country with pride and honor from 1966-1970. On June 24, 1984, he married
Sammie Jo Erickson in Pittsburg, Kansas, and their home became a sanctuary of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Leslie had a variety of interests - from cooking for his family to golfing, fishing, and gardening. He was an esteemed member of the
Douglas County Extension Master Gardeners, earning the title of Master Gardener of the Year in 2014. Leslie also had a soft spot for
animals, having loved and cared for many various dogs through the years.
Leslie was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Margie and Laura. He leaves behind a deep void in the lives of his
beloved wife of 41 years, Sammie Jo, his devoted children, Barry W. Conder (Sandra) and Shannon L Conder Smith (William), his
treasured stepson Jeremy Ragonese (Daria), and his brother, Leland Conder (Donna). His legacy will continue in his four grandchildren, two
step grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews whom he adored.
In honor of Leslie's memory, let his life inspire us to live with courage, serve with love, and appreciate the beauty of a life lived with
love and laughter.
