Leroy Kersey, born on April 2, 1943, in Wheatley, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024, at Woodruff County Nursing Home in McCrory, Arkansas. Leroy was the third born of eight children to the family of Richard and Mary Yarbrough Kersey. He received his education at Wheatley Public Schools.
Throughout his life, Leroy found joy in simple pleasures. As a dedicated farmer his commitment to hard work and perseverance shone through in all that he did. In addition to his passion for farming, Leroy had a variety of hobbies and interests. Some of these included spending time at the local coffee shop, caring for the yard, and flying model airplanes. Leroy was also known as an avid horse and rodeo fan.
He is survived by his wife, Gay Kersey of Wheatley, his daughter LeAnn Wilkison (Roger) of Brinkley, Lynlee Gore (Adam) of Brinkley, Libby Oaks (Drake) of Little Rock, and great grandson Garrison Gore, brothers, Bud Kersey of Corpus Christy, Johnny Ray Kersey (Myra) of Forrest City, Richie Dale Kersey (Lisa) of Heber Springs, sisters, Gladys Churchwell (Ben) of Brinkley, Betty Lou Stacey of Louisville, KY, Majorie Ervin of Brinkley and sister-in-law, Edith Ann Oltman (Bill) of Mountain Home and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mary Kersey, as well as his sister, Ester Cook.
His kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for his family will forever be remembered and cherished. His is presence in the lives of those who knew him will be deeply missed.
