Obituary

Kayla Marie (Smith) Sears, 36, of Hunter, passed away peacefully at U.A.M.S in Little Rock on February 25, 2026, after an extended battle with cancer. She was born on July 18, 1989, in Stuttgart, to Sondra and David Smith.

A radiant soul and a beacon of kindness, Kayla was a beautiful person, both inside and out. She was ever ready to extend a helping hand to anyone in need, her heart brimming with compassion and understanding.

Kayla was a proud alumna of Des Arc High School, belonging to the class of 2008. She embarked on a new journey of love and companionship when she married the love of her life, David Sears, in 2009, in Des Arc. Embracing motherhood with open arms, she devoted her time and energy to raising her two sons, Kasen and Drake. Her children, nieces, and nephews were the light of her life, bringing her immense joy and fulfillment.

With an adventurous spirit and an affinity for travel, Kayla relished the opportunity to explore new places. The beach was her sanctuary, a place where she found peace and solace. Shopping was another one of her passions, a hobby she pursued with enthusiasm.

A firm believer in the power of faith, Kayla attended the Calvary Trails Western Church in Woodlawn.

Kayla is lovingly remembered by her husband, David Sears, and their sons, Kasen and Drake. She is also survived by her mother, Sondra (Bill) Campbell; her father, David (Honey Sue) Smith; mother and father-in-law Janice and Tim Sears, grandparents, Margaret Fisher and William Charles Campbell; brother, John David Smith and his son, Jeremiah; brother and sister-in-law, Bradley (Brittany) Sears and their son, Sawyer; sister, Tiffany (Robert) Smith and their children, Laila, Madelyn-Kate, and Braydon; and stepsister, Jessica Huckabee and her children, Alyssa, and Daylen and extended family, Brenda and Dennis Sears.  She was proceeded in death by her grandmother Betty Quinn.

Her life was a testament to her unwavering love for her family and generous spirit. Her warm smile, infectious laughter, and the love she had for those around her will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. As we mourn the loss of Kayla, let us also celebrate her life and the precious memories she has left behind.
