Joseph Allen Anderson was born August 19, 1936 and the youngest of eight children born to David and Marguerite Anderson. The family made their home in the Richland Township located just outside of Cotton Plant, Arkansas. He became simply known as Joe and shared childhood memories along with seven brothers.

After graduating in 1954 from Brinkley High School, Joe chose to continue his studies at the University of Arkansas. During his working career, he spent time as a caregiver, worked in retail grocery and the local café.

On March 28, 1961, Joe was inducted into the U.S. Army. He reported for active duty in Dallas Texas and was stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Joe served two years active duty before transferring to the Army Reserves for four years. On March 27, 1967,  Joe received his honorable discharge after a combined total of six years service to his country.

Joe was a member of First Baptist Church of Cotton Plant for 73 years. Active in the church he served as treasure and as a deacon for 20 years. He was a generous person, and deeply appreciated the friendship and support of his church family.

In later years one of Joe's favorite hobbies was maintaining the family home and site of his birth. Other interest included browsing the internet, reading, and collecting biographies/ autobiographies.

On February 22, 2023, Joe passed away at the VA Hospital in Little Rock at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Marguerite Riley Anderson, six  brothers Douglas, John, Robert, Dave, Bill and Charles.

Survivors include brother, Tom Anderson and several nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

Memorial services will be Sunday February 26, 2023, at the Cotton Plant First Baptist Church at 2:00P.M.
