Johnny Burle Steeland, a man of great spirit and a zest for life, passed away on August 3, 2023. He was born on November 3, 1939, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to Jack and Lula Steeland. His journey in life led him to LaPorte, Texas, where he spent his golden years in the company of his family, and worked a successful career in diesel engine sales.
Johnny was a man of many interests, but nothing brought him more joy than duck hunting, fishing, and shooting pool. His love for dancing was contagious, spreading happiness to everyone around him.
He is survived by his sons, Kevin (Alison) Steeland, John (Deanna) Steeland, and Jody (Bobbie) Steeland; his grandchildren, Tyler Gerfers, Sean Barrios, Maddie Barrios, Daniel Steeland, Jaden Steeland, and Morgan Steeland; his great-grandchildren Della, Lilla, and Mailla Gerfers; and his siblings Larry (Judy) Steeland and Norma Coleman. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lula Steeland, and his brother, Robert Steeland.
A visitation will take place at 10:00A.M. on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 with a memorial service following at 11:00 A.M., at Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home in Clarendon, Arkansas. Burial will be at a later date at Shady Grove Cemetery. As Maya Angelou said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Johnny's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, a testament to his life well lived.
