Johnny Warren Melvin was born on July 16, 1953, in Memphis, TN.  He was the first born to the family of Harold and Gearldine (Gray) Melvin. Johnny received early education in Hunter and attended high school in the nearby community of Brinkley. After graduating  in 1971, he chose to continue his studies at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

Through the years Johnny worked different jobs, including retail. However, his heart was in farming. He grew up working beside his father on the family farm, and learned the necessary skills to later venture out and begin farming on his own.

Johnny was of the Baptist faith and most recently, attended times of worship in Wynne. Johnny passed away at the Woodruff County Nursing Home. He was 70 years of age. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Elmo Melvin. He is survived by his mother, Gearldine Melvin, daughter, Lexi Noel Melvin and brother, Dwain Melvin.

Funeral services were private for family only  Bob Neal and Sons Funeral Home in Brinkley.
