John Wayne "Johnny" Gschwend passed away on October 25, 2023 at the age of 66.

Johnny was born on November 9, 1956 in Helena, Arkansas to Herman and Rosie Gschwend. He, along with his four brothers grew up in neighboring Marvell.  The Gschwend boys gave their parents many a laugh with their antics, especially the charismatic, fun-loving Johnny.

After completing his high school education, Johnny worked for himself successfully as a plumber.  Never one to pass up a chance to laugh, he would fix a leak for a customer while telling a joke at the same time.

In October of 1980, Johnny married his sweetheart, Shirley Guest.  The couple would have celebrated 43 years this fall, but unfortunately, Shirley succumbed to illness on October the 9th, just over a week before their anniversary.

Left to treasure their Johnny's memory are two sons, Jonathan (Gwen) of Lexa and Troy of Marvell; seven grandchildren, Slay Gschwend, Sawyer Gschwend, Annalane Gschwend, Maris Gschwend, Paige Marsh, Braelynn Hood and Troy Gschwend, Jr.; two brothers, Roger Gschwend and James Gschwend; and many other family members and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; and his brothers, Gary and Rickey.

Pallbearers are D.J. Howell, Allan Rowland, Trent Furr, Brandon Webster, Rickey Gschwend, Jr. and Daniel Boone Russell.  Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Guest, Kipp Bartlett, Slay Gschwend and Sawyer Gschwend.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 27th at Schaffhauser Cemetery in Marvell.
