Joel Summers, Jr. was born on August 29, 1935 to Joel and Agnes (Dinsmore) Summers in Perry, AR. Joel passed away at his home in Perry at the age of 85 on July 18, 2021.

Joel was a lifelong resident of Perry. He was of the Southern Baptist faith and was a member of Perry Baptist Church. Joel was given the gift of gab, enjoying talking to anyone he met and preaching the word of God. In his younger years, Joel and his wife, Betty, traveled to many places within the United States. He never missed the opportunity to spend time eating out with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Joel is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years; Betty Summers; parents; son: Arvil Summers; and brother: Robert Summers.

Joel is survived by his son: Gary Summers and wife Mary of Perry, AR; daughter: Joeletta Porter and husband James of Casa, AR; brother: Kenneth Summers and wife Patty of Wooster, AR; sisters: Bernice Howard of Prattsville, AR , Vernice Welch of Fort Smith, AR; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a special mention to grandchildren Lewis Summers and Terry Summers that took exceptional care of him.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021, 2:00 p.m. at the Perry Baptist Church in Perry, AR.
