Dr. Darrell Bonner, 86, of Paragould, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026. Born in Turner, Arkansas, he lived a life marked by dedication to his family, community.

Dr. Bonner graduated from Marvell High School before pursuing higher education at the University of Arkansas and UAMS. His academic journey laid the foundation for a distinguished career in medicine. For thirty-eight years, he served as a Family Practice and Emergency Department physician, earning the respect and admiration of his patients and colleagues alike. His commitment to healthcare extended beyond his practice; he held leadership roles as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Arkansas Methodist Hospital and as Chief of Staff for its physicians.

A proud veteran, Dr. Bonner chose to serve his country in the United States Navy. Commissioned as an Ensign on August 16, 1961, he dedicated six years to military service. He was stationed at Nabatracom NAS in Pensacola, Florida, and Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Oahu, Hawaii.

Dr. Bonners personal life was equally fulfilling. He shared forty-one cherished years with his beloved wife, Shelley Anita Cullum. Together they built a loving family that includes six children: Andrew Bonner, Holley Ford, David Bonner, Stephen Bonner, Shannon JHA, and Bradley King; three grandchildren: Ian Ford, Sara Crass, and Leah JHA; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Elwood Bonner. He was predeceased by his brothers Gaines Bonner and Hugh Bonner and his parents Otto Caraway Bonner and Mondine Middleton Bonner.

An avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast, Dr. Bonner found joy in bass fishing, duck hunting, golf, snow skiing, gardening, and home landscaping. He also loved traveling with family and friends—creating memories that will be treasured by those who knew him best.

Dr. Darrell Bonner leaves behind a legacy of compassion and service that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.

Dr. Bonner was a member of First Baptist Church in Paragould, Arkansas. Brought up in Baptist and enjoyed Christian fellowship.
