Jerry George, 73, formerly of Marvell, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at his home in Vilonia.

Jerry was born on February 7, 1949 in Holly Grove, Arkansas the seventh child of Jack and Zulieme George.  Growing up, he attended Marvell Public Schools and graduated in 1966.

In 1969, he joined the U.S. Army.  He earned several medals during his enlistment including National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Army Commendation Medal.  In 1971, Jerry was seriously injured and was forced to return home.

A few years after returning to civilian life, Jerry became the doting father of two daughters, Paula and Jan.  Then in 1988 he began dating Teresa Waters.  On August 3, 1991, Jerry and Teresa were married.  Along with Teresa's daughters, Teri and Laura, the George family was now complete.

When he wasn't spending time with his family, Jerry enjoyed deer and turkey hunting and hanging out with his friends at the local Waffle House.  He was a member of First Christian Church of Marvell, where he served on the board of trustees.

Jerry leaves a legacy behind for all those who loved him to keep in their hearts as they move forward without him.  Survivors are his wife, Teresa; daughters, Paula Ramsey (Blake) of Sherwood, Jan Rogers (Brandon) of Wesley, Teri Bartlett (Kipp) of Marvell and Laura Riggs (Andrew) of Conway; seven grandchildren, Allison Ramsey, Lauren Rogers, Ashley Rogers, Katelyn Bartlett, Wade Bartlett, Lucas Riggs and Maddox Riggs; three brothers, Pat George (Rosa Lee) of Cleveland, Mississippi, Jeffrey George of Holly Grove and Powell George (Bambi) of Searcy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Zulieme George; four brothers, Jack George, James Perry George, Joe George, Jimmy George; and two sisters, Alein George and Julia George Papa.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 26 at Brickell Funeral Home.  A funeral service for Jerry George will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Cypert Church of Christ in Marvell.  Burial will follow at Cypert Cemetery.  Mark Spencer will officiate the church service and Brandon Rogers will conduct the graveside service.

Pallbearers are Pat George, Jeffrey George, Powell George, Blake Ramsey, Scott Papa and Andrew Riggs.  Honorary pallbearers are Kipp Bartlett, Justin George, A.B. Thompson and Bobby Bennett.
