James William Smith of Clarendon passed away on December 11, 2022 at the age of 91. He was born on July 8, 1931 to Bertha Robertson and William Hiley Smith in Clarendon, Arkansas. James started working as an architect for plans of T&S Sawmill in Clarendon. James went on to work as a mill manager at Timber King Industries in Forrest City for a number of years. In James spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and small engine repair.

He is proceeded in death by his father; William Hiley Smith, mother; Bertha Robertson, wife; Winnie Hickman Smith, bothers; Grover, Limon, and Ortrey Smith, sisters; Lois Ray and Alva Baker.

He is survived by his son; Marty and Tracy Smith of DeValls Bluff, daughter; Dianna Lynn Malone of Clarendon, grandchildren; Kayli Jo, Caleb, and Jordan Smith, Richie and James Dale Malone, and Michelle Burtram, great grandchildren; Taylor Lumpkin, Milla Jo Ragsdale, Roman Burtram, Blakeleigh Smith, Ryan, Harlee, and Hannah Malone.
