James Louis Prince was born in Brasfield on November 5, 1927 to Benjamin and Mary Prince. He was blessed to share in the memories of childhood, with eight younger siblings and received formal education at the local school. On December 3, 1950 he married Cynthia Lucille Williams in Biscoe. Through the years their home was blessed with the birth of three daughters.
James was called upon during the Korean Conflict to aid his country. He entered into active service in Little Rock on October, 28, 1950. Upon receiving training at Camp Chaffee he served as part of the Btry A 560 th FA Bn. With skills in the Extended Range Canon Unit, James was deployed to Korea. After completing his tour of duty, he was discharged at the rank of CPL on October 28, 1952, at Fort Polk Louisiana. James was honored with the UN Service Medal and for acts of valor, the Korean Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars.
Upon returning to civilian life, James began a working career. For twenty years he worked Armstrong's Mercantile store where he became well known as the "TV Repairman". Everyone in the tri-county area came for his expertise. Upon the closing of the store, James began a new venture selling Electrolux Vacuum Cleaners. Once again many of his friends in the community came to him for a vacuum purchase or repair. Turning out to be a profitable venture, James continued for twenty years before deciding to retire.
In the community James was a member at the Brasfield United Methodist where he served as Superintendent and teacher. He was also active in the American Legion. In leisure time James enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching, painting and playing the guitar.
On August 16, 2021 James passed away at his home in Lonoke at the age of 93. He was preceded in death by parents Benjamin and Mary (Mann) Prince; siblings, Jasper Prince, Billy Ray Prince, Geraldine Allsup, Betty Stringfellow and granddaughter Jolie Smith.
Survivors; Wife, Cynthia Lucille Williams Prince; Daughters, Barbara Ann Cazer and husband Larry, Brenda Smith and husband Joey, Janice Minor and husband Barry; Brothers, William Prince and wife Patsy, Jack Prince and wife Carolyn; Sisters, Virginia Holloway and Rosie White; Grandchildren, Elizabeth Jackson, Joshua Cazer, Jeffrey Minor and Jordan Smith; Three Great Grandchildren, Emily Jackson, James Minor and Kennedy Minor.
Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday morning at Biscoe Cemetery with with Bro. Jackie Prince officiating.
