James Billy Chism 88 of Morrilton, AR passed away on June 9, 2021 at his home with his family surrounding him. James was born in Jerusalem, AR, a son to John L. and Willie E. (Massey) Chism.

James or "Bill" as he was mostly referred to was a member of the Downtown Church of Christ Church in Morrilton and served as a deacon for 10 years. Bill and his wife Jean enjoyed attending services and church activities. Bill was a retired employee of McConnel Dew Chevrolet. In his younger years, Bill served in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. Bill enjoyed gardening, mowing, and woodworking.  Bill was a joy to those who knew him and will be missed greatly.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife: Vereta Jean (Castleberry) Chism; parents; and great-grandson: Hayden Isaac Speights.

Bill is survived by his daughters: Shirley Dold and husband Gerald of Zachary, LA, Janet Speights and husband David of Benton, AR; sister: Johnnie Sue Harrell and husband Arthur of Morrilton, AR; grandchildren: Theresa Payment, Elizabeth Norwood, Catherine Lawson, Angela Denova, Philip Dold, Aaron Speights, Matt Speights, Elizabeth Heaggans; 17 great- grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Bob Neal and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Morrilton. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Downtown Church of Christ in Morrilton. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Morrilton.
