James Franklin Brawner began his life's journey, Friday, January 31, 1958 at Wynne, Arkansas. He was the youngest of five children born to Odis and Ernestine Head Brawner. During his childhood, James attended the Fitzgerald Crossing Baptist Church. He graduated from Wynne High School in 1976 and continued his education at Northwest Community College in Southaven, MS.
After graduation, James began his employment as an LPN and advanced into Cardiac Telemetry. Over the years, he became a supervisor and then manager over the many Baptists Minor Medical Clinics throughout the Memphis area. He was a liaison between physicians and nurses for administrative, supervisory, scheduling and procurement of necessary supplies and medicines.
While living in West Memphis, James met Roger Cary and began a long term relationship that has lasted for thirty-six years. They made their home in Red Banks, MS., where James resided until he was over come by his illness.
James was immensely talented and had a great love of the outdoors and nature. He and Roger enjoyed landscaping and working in their flower gardens. At Christmas time their home would be beautifully decorated and lighted and their pond behind their home, was enjoyed by their many peacocks, turkeys, black and white swans, guineas, chickens, ducks, alpacas, and goats, that they raised. His love of Dalmatian dogs, especially Princess, brought James many hours of love and enjoyment.
For relaxation, James enjoyed playing the piano and brought great joy to all who were privileged to hear him. He was a great chef at home and would prepare delicious entrees, special side dishes and elaborate desserts to please those he entertained. He always enjoyed telling a good joke and kept everyone laughing. His love for his family and friends was shown in the way he reached out with his caring ways. James will never be forgotten by his family and those who received his love and care.
On Friday morning, August 30 2024, at the age of 66, James passed form this life into eternity. He was preceded in death by his parents, Odis and Ernestine Brawner and his brother, Odis "Scott" Brawner. He is survived by his companion, Roger Cary of Red Banks, MS., sisters, Ann Heiniger and husband Jerry of Branson, MO., Lisa Carol Brawner of Searcy, AR., brother, Barry Brawner and wife Bettye of Rogers, AR., sister-in-law, Charlene Brawner of Lead Hill, AR and a host of extended family and friends.
