Henry D. Ford Jr. of Brinkley, passed away on November 1, 2022, at the age of 80. He was born on February 13, 1942, to Henry David Ford Sr. and Hazel Nanny (Dobbs) Ford. He shared in childhood memories with two siblings, Jerry and Carolyn and his cousin Barbara, whom he thought of as a sister. While growing up he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandfather Celvie Dobbs at Dobbs landing North of Clarendon. He also enjoyed raising watermelons, and delivering groceries from his parent grocery store. He was affectionately known as "Sonny" and graduated in 1960 from Brinkley High School where he was All District and All State in Football. He attended ASU until 1963, where he met Sandra Woodward of Hunter. They married in March of 1964 and were blessed with three sons, Jon, Henry "Bubba", and Jared and farmed locally.
In August of 1973 he married Andrea Merkle Byers and shared in the journey of helping to raise her children, Jamie, and Alan.
Life's journey took Henry to Texas where he worked in the field of Agriculture. He began as the Assistant Manager for Winrock Farms in Texline, Texas. He later secured the position of Manager of Springlake Farms located in Earth Texas. In 1994 after twenty-five years, Henry returned to Arkansas and started his life with Barbara Ferguson Nail and her son Travis. Henry and Barbara shared twenty-eight years together.
Henry was well known by many in the community, as a people person. As the owner and operator of the Cotton Club, he always enjoyed visiting with friends and patrons who stopped by for a friendly game of cards or pool. Henry was also an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Sr. and Hazel Ford, son, Jared Ford, and stepson, Travis Nail, siblings, Jerry Ford, and Carolyn Carmen.
Survivors include his partner of twenty-eight years, Barbara Nail, sons, Jon Ford of Augusta, Henry Earl Ford, of Clarendon, Alan Byers (Kim) of Brinkley, Jamie Byers (Kenny) of Hunter, special sister, Barbara Ford, daughter in law, Sarah Ford, six grandchildren, Jacob Ford, Race Ford, Lynden Gilliaum, Tyler Ford, Addison Ford, Molly Kate Ford and five great grandchildren, nieces and nephew; Jan Barker (Scott), of Searcy, Donna Turner (Thax) of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Wen Carmen (Chris) of Forrest City.
A celebration of life will be held at the Cotton Club located at 655 E. Cypress Street in Brinkley on Monday, November 7, 2022, at 4:00 P.M.
