Helene Pettigrew, born on May 18, 1932, in Oxford, Mississippi, passed away on March 13, 2024, in Carlisle, Arkansas. She was the daughter of John Henry and Peggy Dunlap McCrary.  She attended high school in Forrest City, Arkansas and went on to pursue her passion for Interior Design and Business at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, graduating in 1952.

Growing up Helene enjoyed raising and showing Tennessee Walking Horses with her father. When she was 13 years old, she showed her horse at the Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration and won 2nd place in her event.

She and Edwin Pettigrew were married in 1952 and lived in Clarendon.  In her leisure time, Helene found joy in playing Bridge and doing needlepoint. She was a member of the Clarendon Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Ed Pettigrew Jr. and daughter Jan Pettigrew. There will be a  private family service in honor of Helene's life with arrangements by Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home in Clarendon. Memorials can be made to Shady Grove Cemetery, P.O. Box  194, Clarendon, Ar., 72029.
