Obituary

Hazel Marie Hindsley Storey, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Marvell, Arkansas, on May 29, 2025, with loved ones by her side.

She was born on October 17, 1940, in Marvell to Roy and Mable Jarrett Hindsley and was raised with her six brothers and sisters just south of Marvell in Cypert. Hazel cherished her childhood and loved to tell stories about her beloved siblings, working on the farm, and what it was like to attend a two-room country schoolhouse.

She attended Marvell High School, where she made many friends and began a lifelong romance with Ronald Coleman Storey, a boy she had known since grade school.

Hazel and Ronald married in 1958 and began building a life that would be defined by love, integrity, and hard work. Their beginnings were humble, but with determination, they developed a thriving and well-respected farming operation. Together, they raised three children: Ronald Curtis Storey, Sherry Lynette Storey, and Lisa Carol Storey Audirsch.

Hazel's children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she was a devoted mother and grandmother above all else. She lived selflessly, loved generously, and everyone felt a sense of belonging in her presence. Countless young people outside her own family were graced by her nurturing spirit and loved her like a mother. Her home was a haven, and her warm, knowing smile—always revealing a spark of humor—was magnetic. Her grandchildren adored "Nannie" for her jokes and antics, and they took comfort in knowing she would do just about anything to help them.

Ronald passed away much too soon in 2000. Hazel was committed to preserving his memory and remained steadfast as the heart of her family. She took pride in everyone's achievements and, when there were challenges, was an unwavering source of comfort and support. There was never a doubt in her mind that the people she loved most were good at heart and meant to succeed.

Hazel's faith in Jesus anchored her life. She was a member of Cypert Church of Christ, where she delighted in fellowship with longtime friends.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald; her daughter, Lisa; and her brother, Wayne Hindsley. She is survived by her children, Curtis (Phyllis) and Sherry; her grandchildren, Elaine Storey Case (Blake) of Brookhaven, Mississippi; Katie Lambert of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Reed Storey (Cassidy) of Marvell, Arkansas; Coleman Storey of Marvell, Arkansas; Kristyn Lambert of Little Rock, Arkansas; Leslie Reed (Zach) of Gosnell, Arkansas; and Karoline Lambert of St. Petersburg, Florida; her great-grandchildren, Sally Case, Storey Kate Reed, Russell Case, Sadie Reed, Rachel Case, Julie Case, Westlyn Storey, Stella Reed, and Luke Case; and her siblings, Betty Sue Loeschner, Harry Hindsley, Frances Story, Karen Hosey, and Sharon Cutlip.
