Life's journey for Hal Edward Mason began on December 8, 1944. The family of Mack and Lillian Mason, made their home in the city of Clarksville, Arkansas at the time of his birth. At the age of 9 months the they moved to Montrose, Colorado, where they remained until Hal was 14. As the last-born child, he was blessed to share in childhood activities with an older sibling.
After, moving back to Arkansas, he became a 1963 graduate of Brinkley High School. Hal chose to continue his studies and attended Arkansas State University for four years, obtaining his degree in accounting.
In 1962 Hal began a courtship with Susan Slaughter of Wheatley, that led to marriage on December 6, 1963. The Mason home would be blessed through the years with the birth of three sons. During their marriage, they would live in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Huntsville, Alabama, Longmont, Colorado, and eventually settling in Grand Junction, Colorado. Sadly, Hal and Susan experienced the loss of their sons Scott in 2010, and Paul in 2017.
Hal began his career in 1967 with IBM in Huntsville, Alabama. He eventually moved to their office in Boulder, Colorado and worked from 1969-1994. From 1994 – 1999, he worked as finance director in Grand Junction for Mesa County. In 2000 he secured a position as a CFO with Walker Products remaining until 2007. Later he was offered a part time position as a Consultant with Walker Products. He accepted that position and remained for the next 12 years.
Hal was raised in the Christian faith and surrendered his life to Christ at the Baptist Church in Montrose. He continued his walk of faith as a member of the Bookcliff Baptist Church for 66 years.
He loved spending time with family and friends and really enjoyed the outdoors. When time allowed some of his favorite activities included camping, hiking, and photography.
On January 12, 2021 Hal passed away at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by parents; Mack Edwin and Lillian Lucille Mason, sons, Scott Edward Mason, Paul David Mason and brother, Bob Mason. May you find comfort in knowing that your loved one is in God's care now and that friends are praying for you, in your time of sorrow.

Graveside services will be 2:00P.M. February 6, 2021 at Johnson Cemetery in Wheatley.
