Gw "Dub"
Hale
August 27, 1928 — July 5, 2023
GW Hale was born on August 27, 1928, in McCrory, Arkansas to George and Annie (Anderson) Hale. He received early education through the local schools and shared childhood memories with six siblings. In time he became simply known as "Dub" by all who loved and knew him.
Dub was blessed in life to become a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. On June 6, 1996, he married Dorothy Hale. The ceremony took place in Cotton Plant where they remained for a time. They would also live in other places that included McCrory, and Searcy before moving to Heber Springs where they remained.
Dub was proud to do his part in service to his country and served in the United States Army driving trucks. During his two year tour of duty, Dub served both state side and overseas. Upon returning to civilian life, he continued working as a truck driver for thirty years before retiring.
Throughout his life, Dub enjoyed many different hobbies. He and Dorothy loved to travel, and the camper was always packed and ready for the next "spur of the moment" trip. He also enjoyed working in the yard, country dancing, and watching birds or wildlife of any kind.
Dub knew the importance of his relationship with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. In recent years he attended the Sugarloaf Baptist Church as his health would allow him. On May 12, 2022, Dub was baptized. On July 5, 2023, his earthly journey ended as he entered through the gates of his eternal home. Dub was preceded in death by his parents, George, and Annie Hale, sons, Tim Banks and Kevin Banks and six siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hale of Heber Springs, son, Gary Hale (Christine) of Darien, IL., daughters, Denise Sorpassa (Rob) of Orland Park, IL., Pam Clifton (Larry), of Wheatley, AR., Beverly Melvin (Ronnie) of Heber Springs, AR., nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
