Obituary

A brilliant ray of Arkansas sunshine dimmed on August 16, 2023, with the passing of Goldie Earlene Shepherd, affectionately known as Goldie. Born on December 5, 1931, in Moro, Arkansas, Goldie enriched the lives of all who knew her with her adventurous spirit, compassionate heart, loving nature, and supportive demeanor. An irreplaceable pillar of her community, Goldie brought warmth, joy, and a sense of unity to those around her, making her presence an unforgettable gift to all.

Goldie's journey was nothing short of extraordinary. In 1958, she embarked on an adventure that would forever bond her family. Goldie, the ever-adventurous spirit, packed into a car with three adults and six children and embarked on a three-day, three-night journey to Oregon. This bold move, made when all her friends relocated to Oregon, not only showcased her fearless spirit but also brought her family closer than ever before. This tale of their adventure is a testament to Goldie's love for her family and her readiness to embrace life.

Throughout her life, Goldie's boundless love for her family was evident. She devoted her time to her family, creating countless memories at Razorback games, on trips to the Smoky Mountains and Gulf Shores, Alabama, and in her beautiful garden. Her career as a Dress Consultant at Low's Bridal Shop allowed her to share her passion for beauty and elegance with others, further extending her warmth into the community. She was a faithful member of the Baptist faith for 85 years, Goldie's compassionate spirit and loving nature influenced all who crossed her path.

Goldie is survived by her beloved family: daughter, Vicki Shepherd; daughter-in-law, Gloria Shepherd; grandson, Daniel Shepherd and his wife, Susan Shepherd; special family members Judy Wright, Curt Wright, Ethan Wright, and Robin & Bret Taylor; and great-grandchildren Faith Yancey, Ivy Rohrer, Lily Rohrer, and Colby Rohrer.
