Gloria Jean
Barras
September 15, 1952 — December 21, 2023
Marianna
Gloria Jean Breeding Barras of Marianna, Arkansas passed away on December 21, 2023. Gloria was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, on September 15, 1952, to Louis and Jewels (Watts) Breeding. Gloria shared her childhood memories with six siblings and was raised in the Baptist faith.
She was blessed in life to become a wife, mother, and grandmother. On February 28, 1999, she became the wife of Gary Barras. The ceremony took place in a small beach tavern located in Pompano Beach, Florida, where they met, singing Karaoke. Skilled with a needle and thread, Gloria made her own wedding dress and worked on the details for days until she finished. Gloria and Gary shared a love of riding motorcycles. Gloria was a member of the Wings of Gold Motorcycle Club and Gary the Blue Knights. They lived in different areas that included Corral Springs, Lantana and Deer Field, Florida. It was on a trip to visit family in Arkansas, that Gloria shared her desire to move here. For the last 17 years they have made their home in Marianna.
In a working career Gloria worked with the public as a waitress. She always enjoyed welcoming the local patrons and visitors from different places. She was last employed at Tommy's Place located in Coral Springs, Florida. Gloria remained a dedicated and valued employee for over 20 years before stepping away from public work to retire. She enjoyed playing card games on her phone, especially Phase 10. However, if it was a game she could get on her phone, odds are she played it.
Gloria leaves behind a legacy of memories to be cherished and will be missed dearly by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Jewels Breeding, daughter, Tammy Tidwell, brothers, Louis Breeding, Leroy Breeding and Troy Breeding.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Barras, son, Tracy Tate, stepsons, Gary Barras Jr., Stephen Barras (Christina), and Joseph Barras, brothers, Jimmy Breeding, James Breeding, sister, Linda Ray, eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
