Gerald Leroy Heavener 79 of Bradford, AR went to be with our Lord on Friday, March 18, 2022. He was the first born son of Frank and Gertude (Fetters) Heavener in Des Arc, AR on December 02, 1942.

Gerald was a veteran in the United States Army. While in service, he was stationed in Germany for two years in Germany and later in Vietnam; on mission in Vietnam he was shot three times. After service he returned to his home in Des Arc, AR.

Gerald later met the love of his life, Ruby Havener, working at the Phillips – Van Heusen Shirt Factory in his home town. The two married on January 17, 1964. They shared much time together working in their later years at Harding University as members of the grounds crew until retirement.

Gerald was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing; anything that could be hunted or caught Gerald was involved. He enjoyed his hobbies enough upon retirement he moved to a small house with the Ozark National Forrest as a backyard. In addition, he had a passion for his family. He treasured the time he spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Gertude (Fetters) Heavener.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years: Ruby (Havener) Heavener; two sons: Ben (Tammy) Heavener of Searcy, AR, Jeffrey (Michelle) Heavener of Bradford, AR; three grandchildren:  Ariana (Sidney) Heavener of Bradford, AR, Dalton Heavener of Bradford, AR, Katelyn Heavener of Searcy, AR; two brothers: Charles "Kay" (Jan) Heavener of Sherwood, AR, William "Dubby" (Betty) Heavener of Little Rock, AR; best friends: James Rumfield, Charles Bridgeman of Searcy, AR, J.R. Weatherly of Des Arc, AR.

No services will be held to respect Gerald's wishes.
